Hey! I’m fast(er)!

Yesterday we had a great time trial practice. We have a “course” on the north end of town. It’s a 10km well paved country road that leads from the highway into a little town called San Lorenzo. The profile is below. It’s an out and back, so run your eyes left to right for the ride out and right to left for the ride back.

Yesterday was the second time we’ve ridden it as a TT and I smashed my previous time. Last week I did 23:22 on the way out and 17:21 on the way back in. This time, 21:53 and 16:50. That’s a smokin 21.4mph on the return!!! Oh, and 17.2mph on the way out…but it’s uphill so that’s still fantastic by me.

Some of the time increase had to come with the fact that this was go no. 2 on the course – knew what gear to use, knew where all the hard bits were – but I’m sure it also shows an increase in my super awesome fastness. I felt better than last time and was able to take it up a gear in a few sections. I didn’t have to weave through a herd of goats, though this time I was greeted by a group of gauchos and their cattle on one of the sections on the way out that kicks a little. Come to think of it though, it may have motivated me go faster because I didn’t want to slow down with all the whistles.

Ben also increased his times by approximately the same margin, which is great because I got the same time out that he got last time. Maybe one day I’ll be as fast as him, but at least for now he’s still able to smoke me.

It feels great to be improving, especially knowing that it can only get better from here.
