Christmas has come and gone and we had a wonderful trip back to Ohio. We were able to spend some quality time with family and friends in Columbus and Dayton, but bad weather stopped us from visiting Cincinnati.
We drove into Columbus and spent the weekend with Fish, Sue and the ninos. We had fun hanging out, going to see Santa (though he had just gone on break, so really we just went to the mall and walked among the crowd) and looking through old pictures. One evening they shared an awesome little treat with us – a gift pack of chocolates from around the world. The differences between the countries was very distinct and impressive. Our favorites included Peru, Tanzania and the Dominican Republic. Talk about decadent!
Next up was Dayton. Even though I had just been there a week before, it was still good to see the fam. We spent Christmas Eve at Gma’s. This is Bec Bec in front of the Fabulous Tree, with her new scarf that I knit, mostly during the many drives to and from DC in the past weeks!
On Christmas Day we drove back to Columbus to be with Ben’s family for the evening. We were running a bit late and they were kind enough to wait until we were there to start Christmas dinner. Thanks for being understanding! It was also a bit of a farewell as Pete is going to be stationed in Germany for the next few years. Hope your relocation goes well and we hope to see you over there sometime! Here I am teaching Ben’s cousin Erik to knit. He was an excellent student.
Unfortunately our Christmas get together in Cinci was canceled due to an ill timed ice storm, but I hope we’ll all be able to get together the next time we make it back to Ohio.
It was great to see friends and family and be able to spend the holidays with them. The past two years we’ve been pretty far away and it feels good to be back. Even though we’re not living in Ohio, we’re a lot closer now than when we were in South America!
